Cancer Relay for Life

Hey Blog-readers! We did the Cancer Relay for Life again this year and it was, as always, a good time and a great cause. Prior to the event we had a fundraiser at Ruckers. Thanks to all of you who came out to help us raise money! The afternoon at Ruckers involved (of course!) vampire teeth, ring pops, and other wonderful prizes for those who pulled out good moves on "Dance, dance revolution" or managed to bribe tickets off other winners!Jayson and Erin ponder what they could get with their new-found fortune. . .
Amanda enjoys the sweet taste of victory!
The event itself it always very moving and hopeful. It is a nice time to be able to honour and remember loved ones and friends who have battled cancer. There is a luminary ceremony at dusk with pipes and drums that is really nice. Cancer touches us all. . .most recently for me, I think of Grandpa Harold, Uncle Bob, Auntie Sandy, Susan and Kirsten. Kirsten, you are inspiring! God has great plans for you and He isn't finished with you yet!
The event is an all-night Relay held outdoors at Deifenbaker park. The site is beautiful once it gets dark because the luminaries, lit in honour of cancer victims and survivors, light the track throughout the night. Plus, we had fabulous weather!
You can walk or run through the night (I was definitely walking!) and we're always exhausted by the time breakfast rolls around. We're still smiling though!
Okay, maybe this is a bit dramatic, but we were tired! hehe
Thanks for your support. If this is of interest to you, please consider joining our team next year. Doesn't it look like fun?!?!
