Birthday Bash/Yayy Julia is a teacher party!

The importance of family and friends is something that often comes up in discussions with those who are near and dear to me. I've always believed that people are more important than things or accomplishments, but this year our family has taken this even more to heart.
In the past few years we have lost a lot of family members and friends, and after my aunt passed away tragically in a snorkelling accident in Hawaii this year, we've all taken another good look at our lives and what is important to us.
Coming home from my studies in Alberta has been a huge blessing; I have been surrounded by the love of family and friends like never before. I've always appreciated these people, but let's just say that now my appreciation for you all is heightened!
I had a birthday bash mid-May to celebrate with friends, and I must say that it was the best birthday I've ever had.Nobody brought presents, just heartfelt cards and donations for my mission trip to St.Vincent.
We went mini-golfing in all our glory and goofiness and then went back to my place for visiting, games, hanging out and CAKE! It was a wonderful time because my friends from different walks of life all came together to have a good time and catch up. You guys are such good-hearted, caring people and you all bring out the beauty and the good in each other. A few of the highlights were me almost scaring away the guests with my powerful candle-blow-out as well as the exuberance of the winning team from our game of Scene It.
Well, to end I'll just say how important you all are to me and I couldn't be happier to be back in town with you guys. I know we all get busy, but please keep in touch. There are very few things in life more important than that. . . trust me. And Dave (bro!), thanks for always being among my friends :) Posted by Picasa
